Demon Exploration - Magical rejects

A little bit of a demon exploration here, made with love for a wonderful project, Magical Rejects by the indie game development company, Cursed Magic. Had a great time jamming on these characters, maybe demons are my favorite entities.
In eastern culture there is this interesting take on them, such as their intention is usually way harder to identify whether it is harmful or not? Not only given this, but the story this game entails is deeply personal and inspired me to find forms and shapes that best convey it.
Keep an eye on them, they are kick ass!

-Stressed artist demon

-Classroom demon: Demon of Paranoia
With the team we identified paranoia as something that captures you, takes the control over you, over your thoughts, your actions, emotions, as if you would be captivated, enslaved.
To depict this, I was looking for ideas, forms that are wrapping around the body while dismantle you as a being who acts by its own will(covering eyes, tying arms…)
The essence of the design became the Japanese knot, Mizuhiki. It symbolizes human connection, purity and protection. By tearing the knot apart, we break the trust of the above mentioned values and use it as an antithesis.
First we were using the cut off hair of the demon’s preys, other school girls’ hair, but later, rather departed from the idea since the demon had a little bit of a broomstick feel by them. :)

-Poga-Pogi-Pogo: The Obnoxious demon
I think he is my favorite little demon in the world so far. Guess he would be the most generic creature like the wolf in WoW.
As you might see he is annoying, obnoxious but cute at the same time.
